Banks, healthcare centers and official documents, everything is just a tap away with new agile mobile applications and unfortunately, so are hackers. Security is the top most concern of developers creating apps for mobile devices.
Biometric authentication is viewed as the most promising current technology for improving the security and privacy of apps.
Biometrics authentication was selected by most of the developers to be the solution to the new rising app based security. In the latest survey done by Evans Data Corporation, Encryption, which was supposed to be the utmost solution for security had to take second seat as developers preferred biometrics authentication systems as first choice.
Iris scans and facial recognition have more novelty, but fingerprint scans are easier for the user and thus appealing to the developer, as per the suvey.
Another noteworthy security finding was that majority of developers (39%) felt that the application layer is the most important line of defense in securing a mobile app, followed by mobile OS which was favoured by 28%. However, encryption of data stored on the mobile device was the most likely security method to be supported.
