Alex Stamos, the current CSO of Facebook, is reportedly on his way out of the company by August this year. This is a result of the on-going disagrrements between him and the company over information security misuse.
As reported, Facebook is dabbling multiple charges including alleged meddling of Russians in the 2016 US presidential elections via Facebook or the most recent Cambridge Analytica scandal. Stamos is one of the key executives who helped the company track down Russian political ads on Facebook.
Having worked as CISO in Yahoo and CTO in Artemis Internet prior to joining Facebook, Stamos was open about the on-going privacy issues at the company. However, this was not to be and his entire team has now been re-assigned product and infrastructure duties. Even Stamos admitted in a latest tweet that his responsibilities within Facebook have changed although he still remains in his current role at the company.
